Harbor Manufacturing, Inc. was started in 1960 by brothers, John and Peter Stratta. With extensive experience as tool and die craftsmen, John and Pete opened Harbor Tool & Die, Inc. and began manufacturing tools, dies and production parts for the stamping industry. While the business grew throughout the 60’s and 70’s, much of the stamping business in the U.S. was beginning to be exported overseas.
That’s when John and Pete used their machining experience to diversify Harbor’s product lines and began CNC machining steel components and offering them to current and new customers. Their reputation for superior craftsmanship, service, and delivery spread throughout the industry and has led Harbor to tremendous sales growth over the last 30 years. In 2001, with over 40 years of engineering experience in machining, tool building and fabricating, Harbor moved into a state of the art, 86,000 square foot facility, in Tinley Park, IL.
Today, Harbor employs over 90 people with expertise in engineering, CNC machining, grinding, tool & die building, repair/rebuild, metal stampings, and metal fabrication work. Harbor Manufacturing provides low to medium volume production parts (1-100,000) across several industries including rail and locomotive, heavy truck, tube mills, agriculture, mining, fluid power as well as a variety of others. We also offer special packaging, kitting, inventory control, consignment and 24 hour service for those quick turnarounds we all need every now and then.
